« The Old Man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway | Main | Holidays on Ice by David Sedaris »

I have been in the same book club for 10 years now and it drives me crazy because .... well, like you said: book selection and discourse.  and people who don't read the book.  don't finish the book or don't even bother to get the book.

Other than that ...

I wish I could find a group who are quite literary -- smarter than I -- and would hold discussions that would pull me up intellectually.

How's your book club going?

I couldn't have stated it better. Ah, the book club fantasy...I'm sticking with this book club because it's the best one I've found. But we definitely don't delve deeply into anything. I am finding the ways people respond to literature to be the most interesting part. For January we are trying something new. We are all reading a classic and then telling the group about it. Should be interesting!
